Model comparison overview

The MA X7.A range includes models with different capacities, readability levels and heating modules.

Capacity and readability

  • 50 g capacity with 1 mg readability
  • 50 g capacity with 0.1 mg readability
  • 110 g capacity with 1 mg readability
  • 200 g capacity with 0.1 mg readability
  • 210 g capacity with 1 mg readability

Heating module versions

  • Standard versions with an IR emitter
  • NS versions with a metal heater
  • WH versions with a halogen lamp

All variants use an automatic drying chamber, a 7″ colour touchscreen and external adjustment.

MA X7.A moisture analyzers are designed for rapid gravimetric determination of relative moisture content, dry mass and related parameters in different sample materials. The instrument continuously records sample mass during controlled heating and calculates the result from the mass change caused by moisture evaporation.

The series combines precision weighing with programmable drying conditions, product and process databases and an automatically operated drying chamber. Several capacities, readability levels and heating module configurations allow the instrument to be selected according to the required sample size, weighing resolution and drying method.

Key Features and Benefits

Automatic drying chamber operation

The drying chamber opens and closes automatically using a control button or proximity sensors. This design reduces direct contact with the instrument housing and hot chamber components.

Automatic closing also limits shocks associated with manual chamber movement and applies consistent closing force during each analysis. This supports repeatable handling and facilitates partial automation of the drying workflow.

Gravimetric moisture determination

The sample is weighed before and during controlled drying. Moisture content is calculated from the recorded mass loss as free water and other volatile components evaporate from the sample.
Results can be displayed in four formats:

  • %M: percentage mass loss during drying
  • %D: percentage dry mass remaining after drying
  • %R: ratio of moisture content to dry mass
  • g: sample mass after drying

Four drying profiles

The MA X7.A provides four profiles that control how the drying temperature is reached:

  • Standard: general-purpose drying with conventional temperature increase
  • Mild: gradual heating for samples sensitive to rapid heat exposure
  • Fast: accelerated heating for samples with higher moisture content
  • Step: three-stage drying using individually defined temperatures and stage durations

The step profile supports methods in which the drying conditions need to change during the analysis. RADWAG identifies it as suitable for substances containing more than 15% moisture, with the individual temperature and time parameters established experimentally.

Four process finish modes

The drying process can be completed using one of four modes:

  • Automatic: the process ends after the defined moisture loss criterion is reached
  • Manual: the operator ends the process directly
  • Time-defined: drying stops after a preset duration
  • User-defined: completion is based on sample mass stability during a defined observation period

These options allow the endpoint to be adapted to the characteristics of the sample and the established analytical procedure.

Heating module configurations

Depending on the selected version, the MA X7.A is equipped with an IR emitter, halogen lamp or metal heater. The available configurations allow the heating principle to be selected according to the laboratory’s established drying method. The standard maximum drying temperature is 160 °C. An optional moisture analyzer version is available for drying temperatures up to 250 °C.

7″ configurable touchscreen

The moisture analyzer is operated through a 7″ capacitive colour touchscreen. The interface can be configured using programmable hotkeys, information fields and labels, allowing frequently used functions and process information to be placed directly on the main screen.

Drying programs can be assigned to specific products stored in the database. This helps operators apply predefined parameters consistently when the same material is tested repeatedly.

Eight integrated databases

The X7 information system stores product, process and measurement information in eight databases:

  • Products: up to 5 000 records
  • Users: up to 100 records
  • Packaging: up to 100 records
  • Customers: up to 1 000 records
  • Drying programs: up to 200 records
  • Drying process reports: up to 10 000 records
  • Ambient conditions: up to 10 000 records
  • Weighings: up to 50 000 records

Stored measurements and reports can be reviewed and used for subsequent analysis. Product records can also be linked with predefined drying programs to reduce repeated manual parameter entry.

Data transfer and remote access

The MA X7.A provides RS232, USB-A, USB-B, Ethernet and Wi-Fi® communication interfaces. Measurement results, reports and databases can be copied to a computer or another compatible moisture analyzer using USB.

Remote access enables online instrument and data management. The moisture analyzer can also cooperate with the RADWAG E2R system for external data management.

Process documentation

The instrument supports GLP/GMP reports for documenting performed analyses. Sample traceability is also included among the available functions.

Drying temperature can be checked or adjusted using an optional control thermometer. Moisture content indication can be verified using a certified MV Test Set.

Model selection guide

  • For routine testing where 1 mg readability is sufficient: consider a 50, 110 or 210 g model according to the required sample capacity.
  • For applications requiring higher weighing resolution: consider the 50/1 or 200/1 variants with 0.1 mg readability.
  • For an IR emitter: select a standard MA X7.A configuration.
  • For halogen heating: select a WH version.
  • For a metal heating element: select an NS version.
  • For methods requiring temperatures above 160 °C: consider the optional configuration with a maximum drying temperature of 250 °C.
