Ampha X30

Amphasys

Fast and accurate determination of cell count, viability and metabolic activity – without staining, labeling or incubation.

Technical Specifications

  • Detection principle: Impedance Flow Cytometry (label-free)
  • Cell size range: 1 – 250 µm
  • Sample volume: Typically 100 µL
  • Measured parameters: Cell count, viability, cell size, metabolic status
  • Dimensions (W × D × H): Approx. 40 × 30 × 30 cm

The Ampha X30 is a universal benchtop instrument for label-free single-cell analysis based on Impedance Flow Cytometry (IFC). It enables simultaneous measurement of cell count, size, viability, and metabolic status for all types of cells – from bacteria to mammalian cells – in real time and without the need for dyes, markers, or calibration.

Key Features

  • Label-free and calibration-free
No fluorescent stains, markers, or apoptosis kits required. No incubation or calibration steps necessary.
  • Comprehensive cell characterization
Simultaneous measurement of cell count and viability for all cell types from 1 µm to 50 µm – including insights into cell health and metabolism.
  • Reliable even in complex media
Electrical detection is unaffected by turbidity, opacity, or autofluorescence, allowing measurements in complex matrices such as milk, polymer emulsions, and microalgae cultures.
  • Fast and cost-efficient
Minimal sample preparation, measurement within seconds, and low operating and investment costs.

Typical Applications

  • Bacterial counting and viability
Rapid and accurate quantification of live and dead bacteria – no need for incubation or plating.
  • Yeast fermentation and bioprocess monitoring
Track cell growth and vitality in real time to optimize fermentation processes.
  • Metabolic status monitoring
Detect changes in membrane integrity to assess nutrient depletion or stress conditions in cell cultures.
  • Protein expression in insect cells
Monitor infection kinetics and determine the optimal harvest time during Baculovirus processes.
  • Cytotoxicity and apoptosis testing
Identify apoptotic cells even when nanoparticles interfere with fluorescent markers.
  • Contamination detection
Distinguish and quantify multiple cell populations in mixed samples – no labeling required.

Technology

The Ampha X30 applies Impedance Flow Cytometry (IFC), analyzing individual cells through changes in electrical impedance as they pass through a microfluidic chip.
This approach provides quantitative, label-free information on each cell’s size, membrane integrity, and metabolic activity — independent of optical transparency.
